Journey through memory lane

The Kala Ghoda Arts Festival, held every February in Mumbai, is a hub for art enthusiasts, artists, and culture seekers alike. It’s a place where the spirit of art comes alive, and the streets are filled with an intoxicating energy. From giant art installations that catch your eye to the many vibrant stalls selling everything from sarees and jewelry to pottery and bags, the festival truly offers a rich cultural experience.

Participating in the festival was both exciting and nerve-wracking for me. Alongside a group of friends, I set up my stall with bags and belts that I had poured my heart into creating. The anticipation was palpable—would people like my work? Would they connect with the artistic value of my pieces? That uncertainty gave me a mix of enthusiasm and a bit of anxiety. It’s hard to predict how the audience will respond, especially in such a diverse setting where people come from all walks of life, each with their own tastes and preferences.

The festival drew a fascinating mix of people—some were artists themselves, while others simply admired and appreciated the beauty of creativity. It was impossible to know who would be drawn to what, and oftentimes, the items I least expected to sell ended up being the most popular. That's part of the magic of these events—you can never fully anticipate what will resonate with someone, and the unpredictability keeps you on your toes.

Yet, beyond the sales, the experience of being part of such a celebrated festival was worth everything. Walking through the crowd, watching people admire the art, listening to the chatter of excited voices, and seeing them interact with your creations is truly special. The festival atmosphere is electric, and being a participant was a joy in itself..
